Beautiful Reminder

The last few weeks have included many trips down memory lane. One of my co-workers was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. She is facing it with such courage and calmness.

It has provided several opportunities for us to talk as I will be taking on some of her responsibilities that will require being trained in accounting and other office programs.

Besides the training we have spoken often about the bigger issues, her health and facing this trial with her family. As she began treatment she said she often thought of Brock and wondered how he felt going through similar things such as ports, chemotherapy and the unknown.

I’ve enjoyed talking with her and my heart goes out to her and her family as they begin this journey. I often wonder if Brock felt the same way she does during treatment, but he was too young to express the details.

Yesterday she stopped by the office and she looked absolutely amazing. She was glowing and her smile was just beautiful. I know it was a Divine Encounter because I believe it was a beautiful reminder from God that He’s got this. He will be with her every step of the way, on good days and on bad days. We hugged each other and that was such a comfort to me, just seeing her and being reminded of His presence.

While she was at the office a client stopped by who is a retired Oncologist. He said he wanted to tell me about something that he had just read in his medical news. He then shared about a doctor that had discovered a treatment for thyroid cancer and that patients who had been given a 55% survival rate were now experiencing a 98% survival rate.

He hoped that didn’t make me sad because of losing Brock, but I assured him that it did the opposite, I was so glad to hear that research was finding cures. My co-worker heard him too and was also encouraged by the news.

God’s timing is so perfect and His encouragement is exactly what we need whether it’s a timely word, a heartfelt hug or a seeing a beautiful friend.
