Beautiful moments

He says, “Be stilland know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10

Yesterday I was running errands all around town. The snow was falling quite heavily, with large beautiful flakes. Stores were filled with shoppers and decorations were glowing from the many homes that were displaying messages of the Christmas season.

As I was driving down a fog covered hill, for just a quick moment the scene in front of me changed and the sun shone through the clouds. Bright yellow outlined the peaks on the hill and it was breathtaking. A moment of sunshine just for me. It was a little reminder that He sees me and knows me. That bit of sunshine made my whole day.

I continued down the mountain until I reached a busy intersection where I again saw a wonderous sight. While waiting at the stop light I saw a woman riding a bicycle alongside the road. It was such an odd site given the downpour of snow that was taking place. Then she smiled, opened her mouth, and stuck out her tongue as she caught the delightful snowflakes in her mouth while peddling down the street. She was having an amazing time and it was a gift to be able to watch her.

It made me wonder how much we miss in our busyness. How many other incredible sites are overlooked because we are only focusing on our next move?

The slick roads and the traffic light made me slow down and I’m so very glad they did, otherwise I would have missed the beautiful moments that God had prepared for me.

I pray that we all will slow down a bit this season and take time to be still with God. Who knows what amazing things He has in store for us.
