Be An Intercessor
Prayer has the power to change. While it may not always change our circumstances, it can definitely change our hearts which are at the center of those circumstances; helping us to see them from a different viewpoint.
I get the privilege to be a part of a prayer team that meets weekly to pray for each and every prayer request that gets submitted at church, online and by text throughout the week.
Intercessory prayer is the act of praying on the behalf of others, which means that you have the same opportunity and privilege.
Recently I was humbled and in awe of the outpouring of prayers and encouraging words from so many of my friends on Facebook. I posted a prayer request for my nephew who was having open heart surgery and within moments the replies started pouring in with notes, encouragement and prayers.
A few hours later my niece sent me this message, “Thank you so much for asking for this. 5 hours is a long time to be in surgery and we are all very anxious.” The family members involved are not believers, but just like me when I wasn’t a believer…..believers prayed and hearts were changed.
I believe that God is doing a much bigger work in their lives today than just open heart surgery. Lives are going to be changed for eternity.
You may never know what your prayers of the behalf of another will do, but never forget that God has invited you to participate in His work and just knowing that someone is praying for you can give you the hope you desperately need and the peace that surpasses understanding.
Be Intentional about praying for others.
Praises & Prayers
Lord, thank you for the privilege to pray for others. Basically we are bringing them before Your thrown and laying them at Your feet. I’m so grateful for the many prayers that have been prayed for me and my family and the changes that they made in our hearts along with the hope and encouragement they gave. What a gift Lord! Help us to freely and frequently give that gift to other others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
