BC Moments - My God My Everything

What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:21-23

While driving to a family reunion last week we were listening to a radio station that played the top hits of the 80’s. It was interesting how each song took me back to exactly where I was, years ago, when it was on the billboard top 100 list.

As I listened to the lyrics of some of the songs I was shocked to hear what was really being said. At the time, I just enjoyed the music, but now hearing the words it began to remind me of my own BC moments – my before Christ life. My BC life was nothing to brag about and as today’s passage mentions, there was plenty to be ashamed of.

After thinking through several memories I began to feel such a joy at knowing God has rescued me from that life. I was a slave to sin and now, because of Christ, I have been redeemed, set free and belong to Him. I am His. Called by name. A Daughter of The King.
