Battlefield of the Mind
The day after I had been encouraged to clean up my heart and mind with the divine power of God I was looking through my bookshelf to pick out a bible study to begin.
Two or three caught my attention and I took them off the shelf and began looking through them. In my head I kept hearing, “what are you struggling to overcome?” My answer was, “my thoughts.”
The question was repeated as I continued to look through books and then I heard, “It’s a battlefield for your mind. The enemy of your soul wants to manipulate your thoughts. Stop allowing him too. Learn to fight back.”
On my top shelf was the bible study Battlefield of the Mind. I had completed this study when I first became a believer about 20 years ago. It was time to do it again. Without a doubt I knew that this was the study that God wanted me to do.
As I began reading I was drawn in by the raw and simple truth that the enemy loves nothing more than to trip us up and keep us from experiencing all that God has for us.
Over the years he has waited and watched to see my weaknesses and failures and been overjoyed to use them against me. I’ve fallen for his tricks and tactics which has lead to my constant focus on wrong thoughts followed by condemnation which is another tactic of the enemy. But no more!
God purposely had me read His word about the divine power that He has given to overcome the strongholds of the enemy and He lead me to the right bible study.
It’s now up to me if I want to continue to be manipulated and defeated by the enemy or if I am willing to stand and fight with the power of God in me.
Let the battle begin.
My Prayer
Father, thank you for Your leading and for the confidence that I have knowing You are right beside me in the battle ahead. I don’t want to live with a wrong heart and wrong thoughts anymore. I want to overcome these strongholds and I know it will take persistence, patience and commitment. There will be moments of failure, but those I pray will be followed by standing right back up and trying again. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Deuteronomy 30:19-20
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life.
