Auto Populate
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2
Today God blessed me with a visual lesson concerning my thoughts. I was preparing to write the blog and as I entered the website address into my computer it auto-populated the full and correct site without having to type it all out. That might not sound like much, but it was a small victory to me.
For months when I began to enter the address my computer would not fill in the full details and I would have to re-type them over and over. But finally, I had entered the correct information enough that my laptop auto-populated the details perfectly.
The lesson was about my thought life. Often when I wake up I say good morning to God and then proceed to think of things that are less than ideal. Worries, what-ifs, and some complaining occasionally make the line up of my morning thoughts and set the tone for the day. Those thoughts had become a wrong and dangerous pattern that my mind began to auto-populate each morning.
But the Lord showed me that those patterns can be broken. The more I enter correct thoughts, His truth and thankfulness the more my mind begins to recognize them as a new pattern and eventually the correct morning thoughts will auto-populate in my mind.
Renewing our minds is possible because God’s Word said so. It takes perseverance and commitment to take our thoughts captive and we do that one thought at a time. What an amazing feeling of victory it is when the right thoughts, truth filled thoughts and thankful thoughts become auto-populated in our minds.
