Arise Shine for Your Light Has Come
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”- Isaiah 60:1
Just looking at the cute little face makes my heart smile. It was 23 years ago today that Brock went to be with Jesus. Sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday. I am so grateful for the words that God gave me that morning in the form of a song sung by little children that Brock had on a recorded tape.
They were singing, “Arise shine for your light has come and glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” I could just picture the angels singing as Brock closed his eyes in this life and in a blink of an eye opened them in the presence of the Lord. What a glorious morning it was for him!
Just a few short weeks before we had the opportunity to have family pictures taken. When Brock saw the carousel horse he asked if he could have his picture taken on it. Unaware of Brock’s condition the photographer mentioned that he looked like he was riding off to heaven and that he was.
In the song one of the verses says, “We have a reason to celebrate, we have a reason to sing,” that reason is the promise of Eternity with Christ. No matter how hard and painful this life may be, we have a Savior that has promised to wipe away every tear and make all things new. Sometimes we may feel like giving up or that the pain is too much to bear, but God is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 (MSG) encourages us to keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going and God always keeps His word.
