Are You Convinced
“Talk with Me about your fears, expressing your thoughts and feelings freely. Relax in My Presence and entrust all your concerns to Me. Then ask Me to bless you with My Joy, which no one can take from you.”
Those were the words from a Jesus Always devotional that I read this week. After reading it the question, “Are you convinced?” came to mind.
Convinced means to be completely certain about something; to be firm about one’s belief. So I asked the question again, “Am I convinced that I can go to God with anything? That I can talk with Him about my fears and express my thoughts and feelings freely? That I can relax in His Presence and entrust Him with all my concerns? And after doing this that I can ask Him to bless me with His Joy knowing that it cannot be taken from me?
Just thinking about being in His presence and talking with Him in such a personal way fills me with awe. The invitation is to talk with Him not talk to Him. I believe that He knows all and sees all, so my petitions and feelings are not going to take Him by surprise, yet He wants to be involved in the conversation.
Hebrews 4:16 tells us that we can approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. God, our “Abba” father is assuring us that we can come to Him with anything and everything.
Matthew 11:28-30 is another invitation to go to God, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Isn’t that amazing! He takes our burdens and gives us rest for our souls. And if that wasn’t enough He also wants to give us His Joy. The Passion Translation of Psalm 94:19 reads;
“Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of Your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.”
The Message translation describes the same passage as follows;
The minute I said, “I’m slipping, I’m falling,”
your love, God, took hold and held me fast.
When I was upset and beside myself,
you calmed me down and cheered me up.
What an incredible loving Father, Lord and Savior we have! Yes, I am convinced that He wants a personal relationship with us and that in those relationships He offers Divine communion with Him. I am convinced that He loves us beyond anything we can comprehend and that nothing will every separate us from that love.
My Prayer
Father, I thank you for time with You. To talk with You and share with You is such an incredible blessing. Just knowing that I can talk with You about anything fills me with awe and wonder. Your love for us is beyond anything I will ever be able to comprehend, yet it is also amazingly personal. Thank you for the peace and joy You give when we spend time with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
