Live Boldly

Anything She Wanted

There is a commercial on TV that shows a woman ordering food at a restaurant and after looking at the menu she says, “I’ll have one of everything – I’ve always wanted to say that.” She is then surrounded with several platters of food and all types of desserts.

Other movies have shown elaborate shopping sprees where a woman can buy anything her heart desires regardless of the cost.

After Esther and the other women in the harem had completed their year of beauty treatments they waited for their turn to have a night with the king. When their time came to go to the king’s palace, each woman was given her choice of whatever clothing or jewelry she wanted to take from the harem.

In the movie One Night With the King (the story of Esther) there was a woman who wore so much jewelry that she could not even balance as she tried to parade in front of the king while seeking his approval.

Esther however listened to the suggestions of Hegai, who knew the kings likes and dislikes, and chose to wear only what he recommended.

We are in our own time of refining and one day we will stand before our King. What are you choosing to adorn yourself with? Good works, outward appearances? Or are you following the example of Christ and choosing to be seen by God clothed in Christ’s righteousness.

In Proverbs 31:25 is speaks of being clothed in strength and dignity and in Isaiah 61:10 it tells us, “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”

We are being prepared to meet our King and we get to choose what we will wear when we meet Him. What will you choose?

Be Intentional about being clothed in righteousness

Praises and Prayers

Father, there are so many things that we can choose in this life but the most important is You. Thank you for making a way for us and placing us in such an exalted position as Your bride. Help us to clothe ourselves in Your righteousness and to live in such a way that we are ready to meet you when our time comes. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
    she can laugh at the days to come.

Isaiah 61:10

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
