Live Boldly

Always Something

I spent some time today browsing through the many posts on Facebook from the Thanksgiving Holiday. It was nice to see people celebrating, breaking bread together and writing about what they are thankful for. There were also posts about those who would not be celebrating with loved ones due to their jobs, location or because of the loss of a loved one. So many emotions. So much love.

In one of the Grief Share videos there is a story of woman who was about to turn 60 years old. She decided that she would make a list of all the things she was grateful for so that on her birthday there would be a 60+ list of blessings. A few days before her birthday her only child, a son, was tragically killed in a car accident.

A few months later as the holiday season began she walked into a store and the decorations, the music and the hustle and bustle of shoppers was overwhelming. How could everyone be so joyful when her world had fallen apart? When she returned home she came across her blessings list and began reading it. By the time she finished she was reminded that although her son was gone, she still had something to be thankful for.

John 11:35 tells us, “Jesus wept.” It’s one of the shortest verses in the bible, yet one filled will love, power and compassion. We have a Savior that weeps with us. We have a Savior that loves us. We have a Savior that died for us. We have a Savior that conquered sin and death. We have a Savior that gives us hope and joy for the future.

He understands the pain and hurt that loss brings, but He also gives us the Hope and Joy of knowing that one day there will be no more suffering or tears. He is the reason that we always have something to be thankful for.

Be Intentional about seeing the blessings in your life.

Praises & Prayers

Father, thank you for being the reason that I have joy in my life. Thank you for the many blessings that I often take for granted and I pray that I will be more mindful of them. Please comfort those who are hurting this holiday season. Help them to see the hope You give and I pray they will know You as the greatest blessing in their lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Revelation 21: 4-5

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
