A Walk With God

This week I had the privilege of taking another Soul Retreat. It reminded me of years ago when once a month, I would use a vacation day at work and simply spend the day with God. I called that day off my God Day. Those days gave me time way from the hussle and bussle of the daily grind. They were intentional, scheduled days meant to renew my spirit and experience a day of serenity and peace.

While at this months Soul Retreat I went for a walk and as I was heading back to my camper I took in the beautiful scenery. The large field, the freshly cut hay, the trees lining the path of the river and felt the cool breeze of the evening.

I was praying and talking with God when for a brief moment I looked to the side of me and pictured Him walking beside me. He softly said, “Breathe. Learn to rest in Me.”

His sweet words brought tears to my eyes as the exhaustion I was feeling began to melt away. Slowly I took deep breaths and each time pictured Him right there with me.

He invited me on that walk to spend time with Him. To experience His presence and His peace. For a moment I wondered what the winter months will be like when I won’t be able to go to my mountain retreat, but He reminded me that I can walk with Him anywhere…..anytime.
