A Vacation Day with God

O God, You are my God. I will look for You with all my heart and strength. My soul is thirsty for You. My flesh is weak wanting You in a dry and tired land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

Over the last month I have experienced God’s daily provision in my marriage, my home, my job and all other areas of my life. It’s been a full month filled will appointments, tasks, chores and responsibilities that I would never have been able to accomplish without the help of God. But, I’m tired.

Today as a read a short devotional I was in awe of the peace that I felt while reading His Word and I wanted more. Not just another passage, but more one on one time with God. Time away from all the responsibilities, time to just breathe and walk with Him. Time to simply be in His presence and have intentionally planned God time.

Today’s verse perfectly describes how intense I feel about needing to get-a-way with God. I was reminded that I use to take a vacation day once a month and just have a God day. What a difference that would make in my whole being. I would feel refreshed, encouraged and empowered to keep running the race before me after intentionally taking a day to be with God.

Are you thirsty for more of God? Do you long for peace and rest? Well join me in deliberately taking the day off and spending it in the presence of Jesus. I promise it will be the best vacation day ever.
