A trusting life won’t topple
So this is what the Sovereign Lord says, “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.” Isaiah 28:16
The great British preacher Charles Spurgeon said, “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to a person that isn’t.” May that be said of your Bible one day.
I like bibles and have several different translations. One bible is my travel bible because it’s smaller and I take it with me on all my adventures. The pages are worn and wrinkled, partly due to a rouge wave incident on a beach, but mostly from years of use, highlighting and note taking.
While looking through the bible the other day it brought a smile to my face when I came across verses and the side notes which read, “Mitch’s verse,” “Brock’s verse,” or “Tracy’s verse,” etc. There were notes about life events that happened and how reading a particular verse gave me encouragement, strength, and hope. All reminders of God’s faithfulness and promises.
As I was studying today’s passage the Life Application study notes stated that the meaning of the stone is Christ and a trusting life won’t topple. Meaning, that those who believe in Christ and trust in Him, will never be put to shame. Another translation explained that the one who relies on it (the cornerstone – Jesus) will never be stricken with panic.
Life is going to be filled with moments that take our breath away be it good or bad and God has given us His Word to hold on to and know with assurance that in the end, we have an amazing promise of eternity with Him.
The passages I named and claimed for my loved ones have given me hope as I’ve waited for God’s timing in their fulfillment. Some have happened and others, I’m still waiting for. But no matter what each day holds, I know the one who holds the day and I’m going to trust Him. My Rock. My solid foundation. My Jesus. My Everything.
