A Transformed Life Attracts Others
Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon. Acts 9:40-43
As you can imagine the raising of Dorcas (Tabitha) back to life must have been heard all over town. Dorcas had shown many people God’s love through her acts of service, but her death and return to life pointed even more people directly to the Lord.
Similar to Dorca, as believers we too have been brought back to life, a new life in Christ. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17) We also have a chance to lead others to know God better through how we live our lives each day and especially on the difficult ones.
A transformed life attracts others. People are always watching and when they see for themselves the difference that a relationship with Christ makes in our lives, they can’t help but wonder and want to know more.
Several years ago on this day our nation was attacted by terrorist. It was a day that everyone remembers. I was approached by a friend who asked how I was handling the news and fallout of those events. She said she asked because she knew that I believed in God and she could sense a peace about me. She needed to hear words of hope. She needed to hear that God was in control.
My response was the work of the Holy Spirit within me and that same spirit is alive and active in you too. Our current world situations give us many opportunities to attract others to God.
- We can pray with and for others
- Be alert to meet the practical needs of others
- Be ready to share your story, your testimony of how God changed your life
- Share the hope you have in Christ
The field is ripe and ready for the harvest. We were created to be right here; right now for Godly purpose. We get to be witnesses of the life changing power of God. Let your transformed life attract others.
Be Intentional about sharing your transformation in Christ.
Praises & Prayers
Father, I thank you for giving me new life in You. Thank you for the people whose changed lives drew me to my own relationship with You and I pray that I will do the same for others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
