A Song of Praise
Do you have your own song of praise? A song that reflects your relationship with God. A song that tells of the struggles, the heartaches, the victories and the finishes with a Hallelujah!
David had a song of praise and it was recorded in 1 Samuel 22 and Psalm 18. Psalm 18 begins, “I love you, O Lord, my strength.” What a testimony to start a song with.
Throughout his song he shared the many different ways that the Lord was helpful and faithful. The bible is full of even more. How many of them can you relate to in your relationship with Christ?
- He is my strength when I am weak.
- He is my rock when I am slipping
- He is my deliverer when I am trapped.
- He is my fortress when I’m crumbling
- He is my refuge when I’m pursued.
- He is my shield when I am exposed.
- He is my friend.
- He is the lover of my soul.
- He is my Lord and Savior.
- He is My Everything
A man named Ben shared a message at church a few weeks ago about the many struggles that he faced this last year. His experiences included; loss of his job, his car broken beyond repair, home appliances breaking and all needing replaced, his wife’s surgery and the frustration of trying to find a new job at his age.
Do you know what his message was about? Raise a Halleleujah! Those were the words that carried him through and continue to do so. His trials are not over, yet he decided that he would have an active faith and praise God in the midst of them.
As a church we sang the words to that song which are:
I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me
I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!
I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me
I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee
I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery
I raise a hallelujah, fear you lost your hold on me!
I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!
Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)
Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)
Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)
Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)
Sing a little louder!
I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!
Just reading those words makes my whole spirit feel alive and remember that I always have a reason to praise God. I especially like the parts where I raise a Hallelujah in the presence of my enemies that’s louder than the unbelief. That just overflows with courage and faith that God will bring us through.
If you don’t have your own song of praise then sing the song above because there is something in it for everyone. Let’s follow Ben and David’s example and sing a song of Praise to our God!
My Prayer
Father, I thank you that because of You, I always have a reason to praise. You truly are My Everything and I Love You Lord. You give hope, meaning and purpose to life and I’m so blessed that You are my God. Our relationship means everything to me and I know that You are always watching over me and teaching me more and more about who You are. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Psalm 18:1-2
I love you, Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
