A Rock of Refuge
Be my rock of refuge where I can always hide. You have given the order to keep me safe; You are my solid ground—my rock and my fortress. – Pslam 71:3
Each day when I begin writing in my journal I start off by saying, “Good morning from……,” and then note where I am. Most of the time it’s from my prayer room at home which I call my little castle. Other times it’s been by the river, on the beach, at a hotel or out on the patio. But regardless of where I am, God is always there.
When I spend time with Him, it’s like taking a time out from the cares of the world. It’s a place of serenity, safety and peace. A place where I can get-a-way from the noise and sit in quiet anticipation of what He has for me.
It’s a place where the enemy would like to distract me, and even prevent me from going, because he knows that he is not welcomed there. He cannot dwell where my Rock of Refuge stands. That’s exactly why it’s such a special place.
The beauty of God being our place of refuge is that He is the place. It’s not a room in our homes, a place on the riverbank or beach, a hotel room or anywhere outside. It’s Him. That means that we have full access to our refuge anytime it’s needed.
