A Priceless Treasure

 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matthew 13:44

The Kingdom of Heaven is more valuable that anything else we can have. What is the Kingdom of Heaven? It is the spiritual realm where God rules and we share in His eternal life. We join the Kingdom of Heaven when we trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

As explained in today’s passage, a person must be willing to give up everything to obtain it. In the parable the man who discovered the treasure hidden in the field stumbled upon it by accident but knew its value when he found it.

Although the transaction cost the man everything, he paid nothing for the priceless treasure itself. It came free with the field. Nothing is more precious than the Kingdom of Heaven, yet God gives it to us as a gift. (Life App. Bible)

How excited were you when you found redemption in Christ? Did you want to give up everything you had to follow Him? Jesus told His followers to count the cost. It won’t always be monetary, it could be family, friends, habits, addictions, jobs, titles, and so much more. But we have to ask ourselves, “Is He worth it?” and the only possible answer is, “Absolutely!”

NOTHING in this world will ever compare to a right relationship with Christ. Knowing that you are redeemed, have a purpose and eternal home with Him will help you to let go of anything that may be holding your back from giving your all.

Remember that joy at discovering this priceless treasure which is Christ and let go of anything that would prevent you from being sold out for Him.
