A Hug Moment
The night before we were to leave on vacation I asked my husband if the truck was full of fuel for the next morning’s drive to the airport. He said he would do it on the way. I was a bit stressed about that because the flight was oversold and I didn’t want to have any delays. So I decided to get take out for dinner and fill up the truck. I have to add that my attitude wasn’t the best and I was trying to start the vacation off with the right mood.
Then God intervened. While filling up the truck I saw a gentleman at the adjoining pump that was from Canada. I asked how he was doing and he shared that he and his wife had driven for 12 hours and just found out that all the hotels in town were full for a wrestling tournament.
He asked how far Tremonton was and if the roads were any better further down the way. It was about 7:00 pm and snowing. The Malad pass had been closed for weather earlier in the day and as you can imagine he didn’t want to risk driving unfamiliar places in bad weather and in the dark.
I told him I would call around to see if I could find them a place to stay. He was surprised and I told him I was a Travel Agent and his wife said, “That’s a God thing! What are the odds of needing a hotel and meeting a Travel Agent at the gas pump?” Finally I found a room for them and she said it was a “Hug Moment.” Their names were Keith and Alanna and they invited us to stay with them if we were ever in Northern Canada.
Thank you Lord for this Divine Encounter. You took my not so good attitude and gave me something worthwhile to do. It was the perfect way to start the trip, meeting new people and being of service to them. Only You God could perfectly time this meeting.
