A Godly Mother’s Influence
Samuel was a young boy somewhere between the ages of three and five years old when he began ministering before the Lord. In those few short years Hannah was given the opportunity to teach him all she could about trusting God, praying and dealing with people. All of which would become necessary as he grew in his position as a priest of the Lord.
Eli’s two sons were priests and scoundrels who had no regard for the Lord. They took advantage of their position to satisfy their lust for power, sex, possessions and control. Their evil ways contrasted sharply with the attitude and values that Hannah had taught Samuel.
Eli knew that his sons were evil and did little to correct or stop their behavior. Rather than discipline them as the law required, he chose not to confront them and in time they ruined their lives and the lives of others.
God’s hand can definitely be seen in the life of young Samuel. The lessons that Hannah had instilled in him helped him to serve the Lord with all his heart and for all his days, regardless of the influences of Eli’s wicked sons. Samuel’s story is proof that the influence of a Godly Mother has incredible power.
Whether you are a mother, sister, aunt, friend or teacher, you have influence. The way you live your life is a bold declaration of what you believe about God. Hannah’s passionate and persistent prayers along with her gentle attitude in the face of adversity, spoke volumes about her faith.
Regardless of how long you have the opportunity to be an influence in the life of a young person, make the most of it and leave the rest up to God.

Messages from His Word
Hebrews 12: 1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
