A Deadly Realization
After a whirlwind day of rapid preparation and courageous confrontation, Abigail was again faced with a situation that would require boldness and a gentle and quiet spirit.
Now that Nabal had sobered up it was time to tell him all that had taken place the day before with David. Abigail knew that she had done the right thing and with a clear conscience she could relay the details of God’s leading and intervention.
Upon hearing about Abigail’s meeting with David which saved his life, the scriptures tell us that his courage failed him and he became like a stone. About ten days later, the Lord struck Nabal and he died.
Looking at this story we can see that Nabal was a fool and it cost him his life. But many people today make the same mistake and hopefully we can learn from his poor decisions.
Nabal had rejected David, God’s appointed king, and instead he was acting as though he himself were the king. When we reject God’s rule over our lives, we make ourselves “king” and indulge in our own desires without thinking of the consequences. In reality we are trying to play the part of god and the outcome is never good.
God has graciously given us the choice to choose Him. He knows those who have made the decision to wholeheartedly follow Him and He works powerfully on their behalf. Rejecting Him brings eternal separation, death. Choose today whom you will serve. Yourself or God?
Be Intentional about choosing Christ.

Praises & Prayers
Father, please forgive us for living as though we are the kings of our own lives. Help us to choose humble submission to You, the One and Only King of Kings. Thank you for giving us the choice to choose You and for the life that we receive when we make that choice. In Jesus’ name, amen.
