A Clear View
Last weekend I was able to get my fall cleaning done. It felt so good to deep clean and catch up on the dust that had been slowing building. As I washed the windows I thought of all the beautiful views that I can see from them. I only washed half of them because the other half were being replaced in a few days as one of the final remodeling steps on our home.
I was on my lunch break at home when my husband was replacing the kitchen window. The whole kitchen opened up when the old window was removed. Light flooded in and there was nothing blocking the view.
I watched as my husband pried the old window frame out of the opening and prepared it for the new window. It took quite a bit of effort to remove the metal frame without loosening any of the outside bricks or damaging the interior drywall. It was a process that called for precision and patience and would be repeated several times until all the windows were replaced.
When I returned home later that day the new windows were installed and the views from them were as as clear as when there was no window. It was amazing.
At a weekly bible study group we had discussed becoming a new creation and what that means. I thought about that after seeing the clear view from the window. When our old way of life is removed and light floods in the whole view changes.
When we become believers our view changes. Christ removes the old way of life and it may take some prying and patience, but eventually the way is open for something new. We are now able to see life more clearly and the view with Christ is amazing.
As the fall season begins I thought about how I hold on to things and ideas when I should let them go and see what God has in store for me. Even though I’m not a new believer, I still need to check my view and remember that it’s a lifelong process and occasionally I need my spiritual windows cleaned.
My Prayer
Father, thank you for the unique ways You teach me and for Your patience in the remodeling of me. Thank you for changing my view and showing me that that there is so much for me to see if I will just clear my view. I Love You Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
